How to prepare for a spray tan

In this photo I was in Airlie beach on a holiday, I usually use the solarium before I go somewhere sunny but I didn’t have time for this holiday, so I got a spray tan. The brand is called Tuscan Tan. I got a full body 8hr activation spray tan. I love it because it natural looking without being too over the top.

What to do before the spray tan:

1.       Moisturize everyday up until your spray tan

2.       If you get any waxing done, wax the day before the spray tan

3.       1-2 days prior to your spray tan, exfoliate your entire body. Using a glove really does the trick in removing all that dead skin. You can pick this up from your local super market

4.       On the day of your spray tan have a shower, and free yourself from any product. Example: moisturizer, deodorant, perfume, oils and makeup :)

5.       Wear loose clothing to your appointment and brig a pair of thongs.

In a spray tan (manual spray tan) you will have the decision to wear nothing or disposable underwear. I recommend in wearing nothing!!  That way there is no lines, so no one will know that it’s fake tan.

After you have had the spray tan done, make sure you feel dry before putting on your clothes, please keep in mind that you will feel sticky but this does not mean you are not dry :)

Take your time putting your clothes on, leave your bra off and try to leave any type of shoe off for as long as you can.

Every spray tan has an activation time. The one I had done has a 8hr activation time, which means you can’t get wet for 8hrs, so make sure when you’re drinking or brushing your teeth that you don’t get it down your face :)

Usually spray tan is clear; the reason why you walk out instantly brown is because it’s a guide line colour (bronzer) for the therapist to see where she has sprayed on your body. So over the next 8hrs of wearing your spray tan, you are going to get very dark, because your tan underneath will be activating and you will also have the therapist guide line colour on (bronzer)

In the morning or 8hrs later you can have a shower and rinse off your spray tan. I always say just soap the areas needed. Try not to use and shower gel or soap over the spray tan because if these products have allot of perfume or citrus in them, they will dry out your skin which will minimize the wear of your tan.

Once you’re out of the shower, pat towel dry and moisturize, moisturize, MOISTERIZE! Try to stay away from chlorine or salt water as much as you can, if you want your spray tan to last 5-7 days. If your are on a holiday then swim it up and use a tan extender.

Any questions guys just email me :)

Cleansing your makeup off :)

As you guys have probably worked out, I’m a beauty therapist! I’ve been a therapist for over 10years now…wow that’s sounds so long.
As I’m in the beauty industry, appearance is everything, which means, makeup at all times. When I was younger around the age 12-18 years old I wouldn’t leave the house without it. My mum would ask me to run into the shops to grab something small but I wouldn’t go lol.
Being so young and like most young girls I was obviously very insecure. Makeup up made me feel glamorous and covered any imperfections that I had at the time, which was all the time.

Constantly seeing all the celebrities in the magazines looking so flawless all the time is and was hard to keep up with :). Until this day for my job I wear makeup. Finally at 25 years old I am ALMOST completely comfortable wearing no makeup BUT just not at work :)
For all of you out there reading this you probably love to wear makeup and as you know if you’re someone that wears makeup, caring for your skin is a MUST. Caring for your skin comes in all different forms. Drinking water, eating a healthy balanced diet, cleansing, toning, moisturizing exfoliating & so much more!!!

I’ve always said if you’re going to be someone who wears makeup you have to be clean at it. Meaning:  removing your makeup EVERYDAY NO EXCUSES! And making sure your clean your brushes! And PLEASE GIRLS PLEASE I can’t stress this enough, if you’re going to remove your makeup don’t do a half job, do it properly and you should have no issue with your skin drying out, breaking out etc! I have people constantly telling me “ohh makeup is bad for your skin” Yes, makeup does have chemicals in it etc, but removing this properly everyday and going to sleep with and clean face and giving your skin breaks from makeup is fine.

Point to this blog is for anyone out there, not knowing how to remove their makeup properly or not knowing what products are best for your skin :)
There are only really two types of cleansers in life…. A milk cleanser or a foam cleanser.
A milk cleanser is light creamy lotion and needs no water (only to remove)
A foam cleanser will need a small amount of water to foam up and will need water to remove.

There are many types of milk cleansers in the beauty industry, depending on what brand you’re currently using, most will stock a milk cleanser. I like milk cleansers because I feel really hydrated after I wash my face, instead of feeling tight and stripped of all my natural oils when using a foaming cleanser. In saying that a big percentage of people love foaming cleansers because foaming cleanser usually removes any unwanted makeup or dirt in one go, milk cleanser you will need to usually cleanse twice to remove makeup, once if just cleansing :)

For four years now I have been using a brand called Biolone that we used to stock at our salon. I was using in this range, a milk cleanser, tonic (toner) and a hydrating moisturizer. Recently my sister has moved on from this particular skin care range and moved or to a more natural products/range called Repechage.

Currently I’m using the Bioline milk cleanser, Repechage serum (before moisturizer) & Repechage moisturizing day cream. I never use products from the supermarket BUT If I am really desperate, I don’t mind Nivea refreshing cleansing lotion.
Follow this link to my YouTube channel, its a tutorial on how to cleanse your makeup off! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zU1ZUImXhc
